TUNING METHOD: Your piano is fine-tuned by ear. The tuning is built by listening to harmonics and smoothly integrating all intervals for consistency and for overall best sound. Why no tuning by computer? A computer is no better than the tuner's ear, so there is no advantage. My preference is to remain sensitive to all the piano's sounds in
the process of tuning, which helps differentiate sounds in hammers and strings so they can be voiced properly.

Voicing
is about adjusting softness or hardness of the hammers, and improving connection between hammers, strings, bridges and iron plate. Working with hammers and strings results in improved power, clarity and variation in tone.

HOW MUCH TUNING? If it has been a year or more since the last tuning, a pitch raise and a fine tune is done in one session which lasts about 2 1/2 hours. I don't leave your piano untuned. I want you to hear how good your piano CAN sound and I want to see how long a thorough tuning on your piano CAN last. This is a more cost-efficient method than simply scheduling two tunings. However, if it has been several years, and your piano is between 1/2 -1 tone flat, more tuning would be desirable in 3-6 months. For the family piano, correctly tuned and stabilized, once-a-year tuning is a reasonable expectation. A dedicated pianist may prefer tuning twice or more per year. It's all in the ear!

IN-HOME REPAIR: Typical in-home repairs include fixing or replacing broken parts, partial regulation, voicing, dampers, a few keytops, adjusting pedals, removing squeaks, cleaning, repair bridges, improve tuning pin tightness, casters, and case touch-up.
